My Three Ring Circus, Part 5
Finally, there is a chance for HOPE! In the fourth stage, you will probably be weary, worn out and just out of sheer exhaustion, may be evaluating your efforts. That's great! Out of that stage will come Stage 5 which is balance. The action stage has its pitfalls as all at once you take on all the challenges. It is easy to expect too much but then you must deal with burnout and disappointment. Balance is better! Balance is the stage that comes after action. YOu have begun to experience some success, you feel some hope, bur you are also in need of some encouragement, rest and emotional healing. This balance is needed because you still have a long road ahead of you. You need to pace yourself, set reasonable goals and move forward but at a reasonable level?? DON'T QUIT ON YOUR CHILD. YOU WILL FIND THERE ARE WINS ALONG THE WAY AND YOU WILL BE SO PROUD TO SEE YOUR CHILD MAKE PROGRESS TOWARD BECOMING ALL THAT HE CAN BE!!
How would I have the insight to see these stages? I walked right down this path...a path of pain for me. My experience led me on an incredible journey of writing a program that gives some insight on how to get this balance. My experiences accompanied by all that I learned in all of my studies - in the classroom and independently, and my experience of 20 years in a middle school counseling office brought me to this place. My goal in sharing my experiences and what I learned comes from one source as expressed in II Corinthians, "Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Compassion and the God of all comfort who comforts us in all of our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God."
WELCOME and thank you for taking time to read this blog.
In my support, we will explore issues of ADHD briefly but more than that, we will attempt to fashion a program that addresses some adjunct issues, like truly knowing your child, building a team, figuring out the most immediate needs of your child and offering some support for you as the parent. In addition, some spiritual resources such as devotions, Bible studies and verses of the month will be available for those interested in growing spiritually through their journey.
These resources and blog posts are not meant to take the place of any therapeutic treatment plan. They are not meant to be diagnostic or the definitive authority on ADHD or your child's particular needs.
